Hey now…Winter is trying to creep back and is planning on leaving us with a reminder of her power and glory… I say, bring it on! It won’t stop the relentless march of spring – the ground is getting soft; we survived friggin’ daylight savings time and the days are getting longer.
I am very excited about the shows coming up in my different musical universes. Wurlibird is showing up on a monthly basis at Blue – March and April shows will continue to feature Bob Hamilton on guitar, but then he will be leaving us for a move to LA! All musicians go there eventually, but not all stay….we’ll see how Bob fares. So, catch him before he goes. On July 13th we’ll be revisiting the tribute to Lee Morgan that we performed two weeks ago in New Hampshire – This will be a special night of high energy bebop with two amazing horn players that I’ll talk more about as we get closer, but don’t miss it!
The Lay Z Gait band will make its annual appearance at Maple Sugar Sunday out at Merrifield Farm on Sunday, March 24. We’ll play from 11:00 – 2:00 – see more details in ‘Appearances’.
The Lay Z Gait band also has a fun, intimate, double bill coming up on April 27th. We’ll be sharing the stage with the inimitable Jon Langford at Jay York’s house concert venue – Last Church on the Left. We’ll also join Jon to pay tribute to Bob Wills with three fiddles and a ton of country swing soul. More details in the coming weeks, but save the date now! We also just found out that we will be joining the LLBean summer concert series with a show on June 8th. We’ll keep you posted on other developments….don’t mind the snow – it will be gone soon! TW
