Hey now…So, sleet in April? Yeah, seen it before and it wont last long. Spring is rolling in and so are the performances…those of you who are busy filing for extensions on your taxes or staying up late to finish – take a break! Get on out and hear some of the fantastic music coming your way.
The Lay Z Gait Band is going to be hosting a bi-monthly dance/show at Acoustic Artisans starting next week on April 18th. Drop in, listen, dance and enjoy fun, American music in this fantastic space. We will do it again on May 2, and May 16, so tell your friends. April 27th is the house concert at Jay York’s Last Church on the Left. Lay Z Gait will be opening for Jon Langford , whose musical resume and love of Western Swing is bound to make for a great night of music. We have also just confirmed that Lay Z Gait will be appearing at The Big Easy on May 4th with Jimmy and the Soul Cats for a rocking night of Swing and Blues. Later in May, Lay Z Gait will share an evening at Blue with Joyce Andersen. If you haven’t seen Joyce – get your butt on down there – she is really amazing and we are looking forward to having here sit in with us for some three fiddle mania!
Whew! On May 3rd, Tom will be joined by some members of WurliBird (Zach Lange, Brett Gallo) and the Mighty Kris Day to play for a swing dance at the Woodford’s Club in Portland. This is a fantastic room – come early for a dance lesson and stay for the fun.
WurliBird will be back at Blue on May 11th for Bob Hamilton’s farewell show with the group before heading off to LA. We might have some surprises for Bob to help him adjust to living in La – La Land (ego protector, sun tan lotion and 5 gal of gas…) so hope you can make it down and help us send him off in style – with Zach Lange, Tom Whitehead and Brett Gallo, the quartet will be slammin’!
